More than a machine manufacturer, Volvo Construction Equipment supports customers with a range of complementary services to unlock their maximum productivity and profitability.
Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo
CE) designs and builds its machines to achieve industry-leading levels of
reliability, productivity, and efficiency. Careful operation, management and
maintenance on site also contribute to reaching their extraordinary potential,
which is why Volvo CE continues to support customers even after their machines
have left the factory with a range of complementary services. Simply put, Volvo
Services enable customers to get the maximum benefit from their machines.
To deliver these services precisely
where and when needed, Volvo CE partners with a widespread network of trusted
dealers throughout Asia. These highly skilled and experienced dealers receive
constant in-depth training and support from Volvo CE to maintain their premium
service competence. Working as one team, Volvo CE and its dealers are always at
the customer’s side to provide specialist, expert assistance.
Volvo Services comprises a broad
portfolio of Productivity Services and Uptime Services to optimize customers’
productivity and profitability. The right combination of services depends on
each customer’s unique situation and challenges, so dealers will collaborate
with customers to propose and implement a tailored support package, adapting it
over time as progress is made. This gives customers the peace of mind that they
are getting the best return on their investment.
Machine operation made better
The two most recent additions to the Volvo Services offer in Asia are Assist Services and ActiveCare. Assist Services include Volvo Co-Pilot, a 10-inch colour display installed in the cab through which the operator can access real-time machine data, as well as semi and fully automated functions. The system is loaded with different apps – Dig Assist, Load Assist, Haul Assist or Pave Assist – according to machine type to help operators maximise their productivity and efficiency.
Volvo Co-Pilot with Dig Assist, for
example, enables excavator operators to pre-define the dig area and monitor
their progress towards it on screen, removing the need to manually mark out a
site and check depth and grades. This facilitates accurate excavation in a
fraction of the time compared to conventional methods. Meanwhile, operators
benefit from the automated boom and bucket movements in the Volvo Active
Control function.
For loading tasks, Dig Assist also
incorporates On-Board Weighing, enabling the excavator operator to specify the
loading area to prevent missed bucket loads and set a load target to avoid
underloading and overloading.
Fleet management made better
ActiveCare from Volvo is a 24/7/365 remote machine monitoring and weekly fleet utilization service that takes the burden of managing CareTrack telematics data off the customer. When a customer subscribes to this service, Volvo CE will interpret machine fault codes for probable causes on their behalf, model the consequences and recommend any necessary interventions to the customer’s local dealer.
From the customer’s perspective,
faults are resolved proactively and seamlessly with their local dealer before
they even have the chance to develop into serious and expensive problems – and
uptime is maintained. Customers can also receive monthly reports on machine
utilization, health, performance, and productivity in an easy-to-read format
with recommendations for improvement.
Overall, ActiveCare saves customers
the time and effort of dealing with every machine fault code, minimizes
expensive unplanned downtime, and reduces repair and maintenance costs, while
facilitating productivity and efficiency improvements. These combine to deliver
high production with low total cost of ownership and operation.
“Volvo is more than a manufacturer of
machines. We are a solution and service provider and want to work closely with
customers to ensure they get the maximum benefit from owning a Volvo machine,”
says Gerard Lim, Head of Uptime and Parts for Volvo CE Region Asia.
With the right combination of Volvo
Services from their local dealership, customers are better able to optimise
their Volvo CE machine’s productivity, uptime, and profitability. Services make
it better,” says Am Muralidharan, Head of Productivity and Retail Development
for Volvo CE Region Asia.
